Umicore and E-Cube educate about the many opportunities of clean-energy products
Umicore is a global materials technology group. It focuses on application areas where its expertise in materials science, chemistry and metallurgy makes a real difference. Umicore generates the majority of its revenues and dedicates most of its R&D efforts to clean
technologies, such as emission control catalysts, materials for rechargeable batteries and photovoltaics, fuel cells, and recycling. As such we are a company that plays a major role in providing products and services that are enablers of a more sustainable future. Umicore’s overriding goal of sustainable value creation is based on an ambition to develop, produce and recycle materials in a way that fulfils its mission: materials for a better life.
In the context of corporate responsibility, Umicore has decided to channel resources to sponsorships and donations that have a clear link with sustainable development (social, environmental and/or technological). At the corporate level the emphasis is on projects with an international scope as well as a specific focus on education. The Solar Decathlon’s goal to educate students, participants and the public about the many opportunities of clean-energy products fits in well with our philosophy.
The Umicore Group has industrial operations on all continents and serves a global customer base; it generated a turnover of 9.7 billion euro ( 2.0 billion euro excluding metal) in 2010 and currently employs some 14,400 people.
